Court Remands Lagos Assembly Staff For ‘Assaulting’ DSS Operatives

On Tuesday, the Federal High Court in Lagos ordered the remand of three State House of Assembly employees who were accused of assaulting Department of State Services (DSS) agents.
Adetu Adekunle, Fatimoh Adetola, and Ibrahim Olanrewaju were ordered to be remanded in the DSS custody by Justice Daniel Osiagor till their arraignment on Wednesday.
Monday of last week saw a confrontation between certain employees and DSS officials as a result of the security personnel’s attendance at the gathering.
Chaos erupted as the agents allegedly broke into the assembly and locked down the deputy’s and speaker Mojisola Meranda’s offices.
The alleged invasion accelerated preparations for Mudashiru Obasa’s repatriation after he was expelled on January 13 for grave misconduct and abuse of authority.
In support of Meranda, some assembly workers fought with DSS officers; nevertheless, it was later learned that the security personnel were asked to strengthen security at the gathering.
As of right now, the DSS has charged three employees with crimes including the alleged assault of agency personnel while they were performing their official duties without a valid basis.
In the charge sheet submitted on Tuesday, February 24, 2025, with the charge sheet numbered FHC/L/273C/2025, the DSS accused the three and other individuals still at large of plotting to attack State Security Service officers while they were carrying out their official responsibilities.
